Bulldogs Boys Soccer Ties With Boonton

Jonathon Bardales gave the Bulldogs an early lead, but the Bombers tied the game up late.

Jonathon Bardales scored early to give Butler the lead in a game against Boonton Monday night. For almost 80 minutes, the played a solid defense, especially Sam Kneppel and Kevin Lee, until an unfortunate mishap by junior goalie Taylor Sovelove caused to remain winless on the season. The Bulldogs will look to earn their first win of the season when they travel to face Morris County Tech on Thursday.

IN SHORT

The Bulldogs gave up a late goal by Christian Ponce in the second half when goalie Taylor Sovelove mishandled a routine ball to tie up the game with less than five minutes remaining.

BULLDOG OF THE GAME    

Although Jonathan Bardales scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs, Sam Kneppel played tremendous for Butler. Sam did it all for the Bulldogs,  making smart decisions in the defensive zone, making passes up field and strong throw-in balls from the sideline made Kneppel the player of the game.

TOP BULLDOG OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE

Jonathan Bardales scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs. Early in the first half, Bardales buried a goal behind the Bombers' goalie.

TOP BULLDOG DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE

Junior defender Sam Kneppel played outstanding on defense. He seemed to be all over the field and was there to make smart decisive decisions for his team.   

TOUGH OPPONENT

Christian Ponce scored the lone goal for the Bombers.

THEY SAID IT

“The result of the game is definitely not what we wanted. We thought this was a game that would get us our first win of the season, but unfortunately we gave up a lategoal. I am proud of the work this team put in. They played solid for 80 minutes plus the overtime period. We just need to keep working at improving, and we will get a win soon.”  Butler Head Coach Andrew Macho.
