Butler Football Stops Kinnelon

Girls soccer falls, state seeds set.

The Butler boys soccer team will face No. 1 seeded Verona in the first round of the North 1, Group I state tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The Bulldogs (1-14-2), who received the 14th seed for the tournament, will have its hands full with Verona (14-1). Verona’s lone loss came to Livingston in the semifinals of the Morris County Tournament.

Kinnelon earned a No. 15 seed for the North 1, Group II tournament and will matchup against second seeded Glen Rock (17-4-2) on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Kinnelon (14-4-2) has already faced Glen Rock once this season, falling 2-0, according to NJ.com.

Both girls soccer teams will also play for a chance to win a sectional title, as fifth seeded Kinnelon will host Lodi (12-seed) in round one of the North 1, Group II tournament on Monday, Oct. 31. Butler’s 14-seed will match them up against Saddle Brook in the first round of the North 1, Group I tournament on Monday, Oct. 31.

The Butler girls field hockey team (12 seed) fell to Morristown-Beard, 5-1, in a first round North 1, Group I matchup on Thursday, according to NJ.com.

Friday:

Football Improves to 6-1

The Butler football team improved its chances for a state tournament birth after stopping Kinnelon, 32-17, according to NJ.com. Running back Mike Tenned scored two touchdowns for Butler (6-1).

Girls Soccer Falls

The Butler girls soccer team fell to Morristown-Beard, 4-1, according to NJ.com. Lexi Malone scored for Butler (2-13-3).
