Ullrich Sets New Standards for Kinnelon Lacrosse

Goalie shines as Colts' postseason run comes to an end.

boys lacrosse goalie Ryan Ullrich has been saving goals this whole season. This has been his first year on the varsity team and he has started the championship season with 16 saves.

Last week, Ullrich helped his team advance in the state tournament past Bernards, before falling 6-5 in the quarterfinals to Mahwah on Thursday.

Kinnelon-Butler Patch caught up with Ullrich for this week’s Athlete Spotlight.

Q: How long have you lived in town?

A: I have lived in Kinnelon all my life.

Q: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

A: I have been plying lacrosse since fourth grade.

Q: What is your favorite thing about the sport?

A: My favorite thing is when I stuff a kid on the crease. 

Q: What do you do when you are not on the field?

A: I like to play tennis and golf.

Q: Any special talents or hobbies?

A: I scuba-dive.

Q: How do you feel about your team this season?

A: I feel that the team had a hard time finding identity offensively, but throughout the season they have truly blossomed.

Q: What are your goals for the season?

A: My goals are to finish this year with a 70 percent save average and hopefully win a state championship.
