Kinnelon Baseball: Colts Exit Early Out Of County Tournament

The Colts baseball team lost Monday afternoon against Parsippany Hills.

was upset in the first round of the Morris County Tournament against a young, but talented Parsippany Hills team. The Colts got off to a rough start and were unable to take the lead at any point throughout the game.

IN SHORT
Kinnelon Starting Pitcher Ryan Price struggled, allowing seven runs and 14 baserunners in 5 2/3 innings pitched. Vikings starting pitcher Jimmy Grawehr only allowed one run and four hits while striking out three batters before leaving in the fifth inning due to a shoulder injury. The Colts got two runs in the bottom of the fifth after shortstop John Mamary's two-run double to make the score 4-2, but the Vikings responded with three more runs in the top of the 6th. The Colts could not garner up a rally in the their final turn at bat in the bottom of the seventh and were eliminated from the County tournament.

COLT OF THE GAME
RJ Gianetti —
1 1/3 innings pitched with three strikeouts. Gianetti did a nice job of not allowing the Vikings to add on to their three-run lead. 

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Jimmy Grawher (Parsippany Hills), Pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing only four baserunners and one run while striking out four. Grawher also went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI; Peter Milveski (Parsippany Hills), 1-for-2 with two walks, three runs scored and two RBIs. 

THEY SAID IT
"We're gonna keep it real simple, we just gotta keep on playing hard and we're gonna practice tomorrow. We gotta tough undefeated Hackettstown team coming up, then Whippany and [we'll] probably pick up another game on Saturday. We plan on playing a lot of games.
