When He's Not Wrestling, Descafano Likes to Fish

Butler High School Wrestler Tyler Descafano is in this week's Athlete Spotlight.

It's been an amazing season for wrestler Tyler Descafano, with the 119-pounder finishing in third place in the Morris County Tournament. But this was no surprise.

The senior started off the season great, being one of only five wrestlers from Kinnelon-Butler Patch high schools to place in the Mount Olive Tournament in December. Descafano landed in the winner's circle and won his first medal after Descafano is in this week's Athlete Spotlight, and here is what he had to say about life off the mat:

Q: How long have you been wrestling?

Find out what's happening in Tri-Borowith free, real-time updates from Patch.

A: I've only been wrestling since my freshman year of high school.

Q: Who are your biggest influences?

A: I actually don't really have any influences. I like to be more of my own person.

Q: What do you do when you're not on the mat?

A: When I'm not on the mat, I am either working, hanging out with friends, or fishing.

Q: How do you feel about your team's performance this year?

A: Our team's performance this year is actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be. We are keeping over a .500 record and thats just fine with me. It's more of an individual sport anyway.

Q: What are your goals moving forward?

A: My goals for the future are about as simple as it gets- go to a good college, get a good job and live a good life.
