Lieutenant to Take Over as Kinnelon Police Chief Friday

We'll sit down with incoming chief, and current second-in-command, John Schwartz, and find out what challenges he'll face in his new position.

Lt. John Schwartz will take over as Kinnelon’s chief of police Friday. Current Chief John Finkle will retire from the department after 25 years of service.

We’ll sit down with Schwartz this week and ask him what the biggest challenge of becoming chief is and if he will do anything differently to keep Kinnelon residents safe.

Interviews will be conducted for a new lieutenant and a patrolman, officials said. Mayor Robert Collins said last week that officials have not made a decision about “any one potential candidate.”
