Car Giveaway, Football Equipment Demonstration This Weekend in TriBoro

300 local AP students will have the chance to win a 2013 Ford Fiesta from Route 23 Auto Mall in Butler.

This weekend, students will have the opportunity to win a new car in a contest sponsored by Route 23 Auto Mall in Butler.

As many as 300 local AP students from Butler, Kinnelon, Pequannock, Pompton Lakes, West Milford will participate at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 27.

One of 12 keys will start the engine of their prize, a 2013 Ford Fiesta.

“The program is designed to encourage and reward outstanding academic achievement,” said Mark Mickens of Route 23 Auto Mall. “Juniors and seniors from local high schools who complete one or more AP courses and receive a grade of 3 or better (out of possible 5) on the AP exam earn the chance to win a 2013 automobile.”

Each qualifying score entitles the student to draw for one of twelve keys that unlock a new car. The 12 finalists then each select another key, one of which will start the engine of a brand new Ford, courtesy of Route 23 Auto mall.

This year, students from the four original high schools, Butler, Kinnelon, Pequannock, and Pompton Lakes, will be joined by students from West Milford HS as participants in the Challenge.

Also this weekend, the BBYC of Bloomingdale will show of its new football helmates and eqipment on Saturday, July 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All participants will be taught the basic fundamentals to improve their athletic skill and help ensure their safety,” said Rich Dellaripa of BBYC. “Both football players and cheerleaders will learn more than just the fundamental skills of their sport, each child will also come away with some basic life skills.”

A company representative will attend to explain the new equipment's features.
