My dad always bought paint for his house at P.J. Monahan's going back to 1953 and the contractors I've used have bought theirs there too.
Since Monahan's opened in 1949, most of the paint used in our houses has come from that source. Back in the 50's and 60's my dad would use their in house produced paints or their major brand carried of Dutch Boy while today it's Benjamin Moore. Today while we have Lowe's, Home Depot and Walmart nearby I always see professional painters buying their supplies at P.J. Monahan. BTW, Bill Monahan is one of our great past mayors of Butler and an exempt member of Butler FD's Bartholdi Hose Co.
