Coaches are required by the NJSIAA to submit results to NJ.com in order to be eligible for the post season, due to a contract between the two. Strong second half lifts Butler to victory.

BUTLER–All season long, the Butler football team has needed just one big play, a fantastic run or breakaway return to get the team rolling. On Friday, the defense put the Bulldogs on the winning track. Junior lineman Billy White gathered up a fumble and ran for a 52-yard touchdown to spark Butler to a 32-17 triumph over NJAC-Independence division and neighboring rival Kinnelon. Senior back Mike Tenned rushed 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Brandon Hurtt rushed for another score to lift the Bulldogs to 6-1 on the season. Kinnelon football team gets its first victory of the season to even record.
The Kinnelon football team displayed a dominating run game in its 37-27 victory over Morris Catholic on Friday night. Colts Eric Clement, Sean Robbins and Chris Villante ran for more than 100 yards each. The Colts had 354 yard in total offense. Down 7-3 at halftime, Colts football can't muster comeback to start season.
Austin Brown scored three rushing touchdowns for Hopatcong to help the Chiefs to a 21-3 road victory against Kinnelon at Fred Morse Field. The Colts offense was dangerous at times in the first half but suffered three costly turnovers. The team trailed at halftime by just four points, 7-3, thanks to an Evan Argiriou 29-yard field goal in the second quarter. A comeback, however, wasn’t in Friday night’s forecast as Kinnelon was held scoreless in the second half.
