An Ogdensburg man was arrested on DUI charges in Butler Monday after police said the vehicle he was driving collided with a utility poll at about 8:45 p.m. on Kakeout Road. He and a 20-year-old female passenger, whose name was not released, sustained non-life threatening injuries to their heads and were transported to Morristown Trauma Center. Thomas M. Curtain, 23, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. Police said they received a report of the single-car accident and responded to the scene. Curtain had allegedly crossed over the double yellow line and collided with the pole. Police said men were allegedly taking items listed on old receipts.
Kinnelon police stopped two men Friday afternoon who were allegedly attempting to shoplift from several Route 23 businesses by taking items found on discarded receipts and attempting to return them to stores. Police said both men were also allegedly found to be under the influence of heroin. German M. Florez, 39, of Port Jervis, and William G. Totten III, 22, of Dingman’s Ferry, Pa., were both charged with shoplifting, being under the influence of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ptl. Nicholas Cifelli was on patrol in the Meadtown Shopping Center parking lot Friday at about 3:50 p.m., when police said he noticed a 2006 Subaru with Pennsylvania registration parked in front of Rite Aid in the fire zone. Elvir Buljubasic, 21, of Kinnelon, was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of heroin on Jan. 31 after police said he allegedly was distributing heroin from his Kakeout Road home. Kinnelon police conducted a two-month long investigation and executed a search warrant at 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 31. Buljubasic was arrested in his driveway without incident and his home and car, a 2002 Mercedes Benz, were searched. Police said they found a quantity of heroin. Buljubasic was send to the Morris County jail with $5,000 bail and his car was seized.

A 52-year-old Boonton woman was arrested on DWI charges Saturday after police said she allegedly was speeding on Boonton Avenue. According to Kinnelon police, Patricia Fleischmann was stopped while driving a 2010 Mazda at 12:37 a.m. for allegedly speeding. While talking to Ptl. Nicholas Cifelli, police said they smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Fleischmann’s breath. Police said Fleischmann allegedly admitted to drinking and was asked to perform several field sobriety tests.
