Undefeated squad will have signs hung in their honor at entrance of Bloomingdale Borough.
As if the Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club (BBYC) A Squad football team could ever forget their successes over the past year's undefeated season, a reminder of the team's 2012 Super Bowl win will be hung at the entrances of the Borough of Bloomingdale after Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy presented the players with plaques Tuesday night. The squad won its division Super Bowl in November after the Bulldogs crushed the West Milford team, 26-8. The local team had a 10-0 record at the end of the season. It has been a week of celebration for the team as the youth fooball players and cheerleaders were honored by the Butler Board of Education during a special presentation Monday night. The Borough of Bloomingdale also honored the squad during the borough …

The following was submitted by Rich Dellaripa, communications chair for the Bloomingdale Butler Youth Club. If you have something you'd like to announce to the community, upload it here. On a cold, windy day that saw snow falling before kickoff, the BBYC Bulldog A Squad faced off against the West Milford Gold squad in Woodland Park, with both teams coming in with 9-0 records for the season. Led by quarterback Danny Polons, the Bulldogs team showed their resolve to win early when, on fourth down, Will Verrico ran for 19 yards on a fake punt, keeping the initial BBYC drive alive. A look back at the club's first year after Bloomingdale and Butler merger.
For a long time, the football players in Butler and Bloomingdale were adversaries. It was a friendly rivalry, but the game between Butler and Bloomingdale was one date both squads circled on their calendars. But in February of this year all that changed. The two organizations were finally going to join forces and merge. The BBYC was now formed. As practice began back in August there was an excitement in the air. In the beginning, that excitement was tempered by some caution on how the two towns would handle the merger. The mantra from the start was “One team, one dream." The boys and girls from all squads embraced this philosophy from the first day. The boys on the B Squad (fifth and sixth graders) not only embraced each other, they were …

Recap of playoff games, strung out over several weeks due to the snowstorm
BBYC's first postseason as a merged program started on a very snowy Saturday morning with the D squad Bulldogs facing Woodland Park at Passaic Valley High School. With the elements as much of an opponent as the Panthers, the Bulldogs were limited to a single trip to the end zone by Alex Orth in the final seconds of a weather-shortened game, as they fell to the eventual D squad Super Bowl champion Panthers, 27-6. After the remainder of the first round of the playoffs was postponed due to the snowstorm, playoff action picked back up in Little Falls, where first C squad faced off against the Totowa Tigers in a rematch of their last regular season game. The Bulldogs were led in the air by quarterback Evan Smith (3 for 5 passing for 45 yards) …

BBYC plays final home games of the season.
This weekend saw the Bloomingdale and Butler Youth Club's final home football games of the regular season. Hosting the Lincoln Park Raiders at Butler High School's Memorial Field, the Bulldogs defeated the Raiders in three of the four games. The work horse of the D Squad offense was Brett Redner, who rushed 15 times on the day and completed the only pass attempted. The defensive effort was more spread out, as Rocco Presti, Mark Finelli, Matthew Smith and Matthew DiGerolamo all had multiple tackles. But it was not to be D Squad's day, as they were defeated by the Raiders 27-0. Looking to come back after their first defeat of the season the week before, the C squad was firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Evan Smith was three for four on the…

B Squad ties with Ringwood, 53-53.
On Saturday, the Butler and Bloomingdale Youth Club (BBYC) hosted the Ringwood Rattlers on Butler High School's new Memorial Field. BBYC honored its eighth graders who will be graduating out of the program at the end of the season. The day's games started with the D squad Bulldogs trying to contain the potent Ringwood offense, but they fell short, 26-14. Both BBYC's and Ringwood's C squads were trying to get to 5-0 on the season and the Rattlers managed to muscle past the Bulldogs to get to that goal, winning 26-6. After an epic B squad game, the eighth grade cheerleaders and football players were recognized in a pre-game ceremony for their years with the BBYC/BYO/Bulter Jr. Bulldog programs. But that emotional lift wasn't enough to push …
