Scenes of 'Bad Parents' were taped at the Walter T. Bergen School with local extras.
Bloomingdale is making it to the big screen and the community will get a special opportunity to see a kid-friendly version of the movie filmed in the borough last year at Clearview Kinnelon 11. The film, "Bad Parents," is a comedy about a group of parents who act up from the sidelines of their kids' soccer games. The movie was directed by Bergen County resident Caytha Jentis and stars Janeane Garofalo, Cheri Oteri, Michael Boatman, Chris Titus, Bill Sage and others. Producers of the film were made aware of the scenery Bloomingdale had to offer through the Passaic County Film Commission and Bloomingdale's liaison, Lynne Ferrara. “Bad Parents,” a new movie by Ridgewood filmmaker Caytha Jentis about overzealous sports parents, will be announced at the Marche Du Film that starts Wednesday. Some of scenes in the film were shot at the Walter T. Bergen School in Bloomingdale and feature local extras. The Cannes Film Market/Marche Du Film is the largest of the film markets where international distributors purchase movie rights. The ensemble comedy stars Madison’s Janeane Garofalo, Christopher Titus, Michael Boatman, Cheri Oteri and Kristen Johnston. The soccer field at Walter T. Bergen School on Sunday morning was cool, wet and covered with the production company and cast of the independent film "Bad Parents." The movie is a comedy about the obsessed parents of a seven-year old girls soccer team set in an affluent suburb. The movie was written and is directed by Bergen County resident Caytha Jentis, and stars Michael Boatman, Chris Titus, Cheri Oteri, Bill Sage and others. The project is the first for Bloomingdale Film Liason Lynn Ferrara and involved coordination with many in the community including with the Bloomingdale Board of Education, Mayor Jon Dunleavy and the local soccer club. The film will be shooting locally again Monday and around New Jersey in the coming weeks.

Independent movie starring Janeane Garofalo to be shot with field backdrop.
Several well-known celebrities are expected to be on set at the Walter T. Bergen School field Sunday as the film crew of "Bad Parents" continues filming the independent movie in Bloomingdale. The film is a comedy based on the play "It's All About the Kids" about the obsessive parents of a girls youth soccer team in a suburban town. The movie was written and is being directed by Ridgewood resident Caytha Jentis and is starring Janeane Garofalo, Cheri Oteri, Kristen Johnston, Chris Titus, Michael Boatman, Rebecca Budig, Reigo Aylesworth and more. Council waives $1,000-per day filming fee.
An independent movie could be partially filmed in Bloomingdale as the director has an eye on the Walter T. Bergen School field. According to the film's Facebook page, the film is set to star Janeane Garofalo, Cheri Oteri, Chris Titus and Kristen Johnston. Production is scheduled to begin Oct. 8 and the film is based on the play "It's All About the Kids." Bloomingdale Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy told the council Tuesday that the director of "Bad Parents" has expressed interest in using the field for a soccer scene in the film. Dunleavy said the scene is about parents shouting at kids during the soccer game.
