The following was submitted by Councilmen-elect Mike Sondermeyer and Rich Dellaripa as a Letter to the Editor. If you have a letter you would like to submit, please send it to ariana.cohn-sheehan@patch.com Dear Editor: We would like to begin by thanking Bloomingdale’s voters for the overwhelming support they gave us on Nov. 6 when they elected us to serve on the borough council. It was a long campaign, and we were extremely fortunate to have the support of our families, friends, and those who helped out in so many ways. Thank you all for the time, effort, and financial support—we could not have done it without you. It means a great deal to us to know that so many of our town’s residents share our vision for the future and are excited by …

As member was elected to council Tuesday, he will be forced to resign board of education seat.
The Bloomingdale Board of Education is expecting to soon have an opening as Board Member Rich Dellaripa was elected to serve on the Bloomingdale Council Tuesday. Dellaripa was one year in to his second term on the Bloomingdale Board of Education. He was first appointed to the board seat and was elected to a new three-year term after running in last year's school board election. But Dellaripa, who was also appointed as the board of education's liaison to the Bloomingdale Council, decided to serve his borough in a different capacity when he ran for a seat on the municipal council this year. According to unofficial results, Dellaripa was elected Tuesday with 1,888 votes. "We need to put Bloomingdale on a firm financial basis and we need to do…

Two Democrats have taken both open seats on the Bloomingdale Council in Tuesday's election. Rich Dellaripa and Mike Sondermeyer will be sworn in on Jan. 1. Republican Incumbent Jo-Ann Pituch, who received 1,083 votes, will be unseated and Republican Michele Siek, who received 1,109 votes, was also not elected. The following is a Letter to the Editor submitted by former Bloomingdale Councilwoman Linda Huntley. If you'd like to submit a Letter to the Editor, send it to ariana.cohn-sheehan@patch.com Dear Editor: This year the Borough of Bloomingdale is at a cross road. If the Republican candidates are successful, there will remain a Republican majority. If the Democrat candidates are successful, the council will once again have a Democrat majority. Remember, under Democrat control, your taxes doubled and services were cut! Under this Democrat mayor, council meetings are contentious, if not unruly. The Democrats keep saying the PILOT program, their “tax loophole,” is going to save you. This “tax loophole” gives developers huge tax breaks and takes…

The following was submitted as a Letter to the Editor by Bloomingdale Councilman John D'Amato. If you woud like to submit a Letter to the Editor, send it to ariana.cohn-sheehan@patch.com Dear Editor, Bloomingdale deserves better. I believe that the main goal of an elected official should be to serve the community by putting its best interests first, regardless of political party. I take this commitment very seriously and, as a newly-elected councilman, I was prepared to work side-by-side with my Republican colleagues. Unfortunately, I soon realized that Bloomingdale’s best interests are not the concern of the majority. Instead, it seems that their only purpose is to control the council, with no thought toward progress or the future. A …

The following is a Letter to the Editor submitted by former Bloomingdale councilman Bill Graf. If you would like to submit a Letter to the Editor, send it to ariana.cohn-sheehan@patch.com Dear Editor: As a former councilman, planning board member and a Republican, I am disappointed with the unproductive actions of the Republican members of Bloomingdale's borough council. From what I have observed, their priorities seem to center on party politics and misguided agendas rather than on what is best for Bloomingdale. At the local level, where we are all neighbors, it should not be this challenging to work together. There are good people with good ideas and good intentions of all political stripes. The continual whining about the mayor and …
