Credit Card Stolen by Kinnelon Resident's Roommate, Cops Say

Purchases of more than $1,500 were made with the card in the tri-boro area and Wayne.

A Kinnelon man was charged with credit card fraud and theft by deception on Friday after police said an investigation revealed he had stolen and used the credit card of his roommate.  Matthew Supel, 20, was sent to the Morris County jail in lieu of $20,000 bail, according to Kinnelon police Lt. John Schwartz. Police said the credit card was reported stolen on Feb. 5 around 3:30 p.m. The owner came into the police station and said that he had paid off the balance of his Citi card on November 10, 2012, but that he had received information indicating $1,569.29 had been charged on the card. Cops: Riverdale Man Stole Credit Card

Police discovered warrants after learning man's real name.

A Riverdale man was allegedly discovered with a stolen credit card on Hamburg Turnpike last week, according to Bloomingdale police. Marlon Defreese, 22, was charged with hindering apprehension and credit card theft on July 16 after he was arrested on Hamburg Turnpike. He also was found to have several warrants out for his arrest, police said, and was transported to the Passaic County jail by the West Milford Police Department after being unable to post bail. Police said they responded to a report of a dispute on Hamburg Turnpike around 5 p.m. and Defreese allegedly identified himself as "Marlon Milligan."
