Four individuals were charged with criminal mischief on April 10 after Kinnelon police said they allegedly damaged mailboxes with a baseball bat on Cutlass Road and Fayson Lakes Road. Police said they responded to Cutlass Road at 5:33 pm. where it was reported that a black Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was seen with the occupants allegedly damaging the mailboxes. Police said they found an SUV that matched the vehicle’s description on Boonton Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and police spoke with the driver, Jacob Nadler, 18, of Kinnelon. There were also two juveniles in the vehicle, police said. Police said they also saw a metal baseball bat with paint transfer on it in the back of the vehicle. Council questions whether neighborhood watch signs would be effective on Cutlass Road.
The Kinnelon Council discussed last week placing permanent neighborhood watch signs on Cutlass Road and whether the signs would ward off or attract more burglars to an area that has been reportedly burglarized a few times in the past several months. On March 19, Kinnelon police responded to an apparent burglary on Cutlass Road where a safe and unknown amount of jewelry appeared to have been taken. In December, cash and electronics were apparently taken from a Cutlass Road home. Police said male offered children candy.
Kinnelon police are searching for a small red vehicle with Pennsylvania license plates that was seen Wednesday on Bayberry Drive at about 9 p.m. Interest in the vehicle and its three occupants is due to a recent burglary on Cutlass Road, police said. According to police, a witness said one male exited the car and walked around a home on Bayberry Drive. The car then fled toward Powderhorn Drive before police arrived on the scene. "As always, please watch out for your neighbors and call KPD with anything suspicious," Chief John Finkle said in a Nixle alert set out Thursday morning. Kinnelon police are investigating an apparent burglary at a Cutlass Road residence on Friday where a safe and an unknown amount of jewelry appeared to have been taken. Police responded to the home at 9:40 p.m. where a homeowner reported that while they were away from the home from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., the home appeared to be broken into. The residents said their front door was damaged and the items were missing and they then called police. In addition to the Kinnelon Police Department, the Morris County Sheriff’s Department K9 and Criminal Investigative Unit responded to assist with the investigation. Wild turkeys gather on Kinnelon yard.
With Thanksgiving long behind them, a group of wild turkeys had what appeared to be a social gathering on a front lawn of a Cutlass Road home in Kinnelon Tuesday afternoon.
