Kinnelon native out of the race, but still going on tour.
Kinnelon native Elise Testone has been eliminated from the popular "American Idol" competition. Testone exited the show singing Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love." Ironically it was the lack of love that cost Testone the competition. She struggled week after week to win over "Idol's" young viewership, and she found herself at risk for elimination five times over the show's 11th season. This week, the judges gave Testone a mixed review for her performances of songs by Queen and Jimmy Hendrix. Show mentor and music industry executive Jimmy Iovine, however, did not temper his criticism. "Elise has a problem," Iovine said. "She is a great singer that makes bad song choices." Testone, a 2001 Kinnelon High School graduate who became a staple on …

Kinnelon native mostly impresses judges with song picks.
Kinnelon native Elise Testone let her hair down and her passion for singing shine when she sang two raspy songs on Wednesday's "American Idol." Testone is competing along with five other contestants on the hit FOX singing competition show. This week, the singers were asked to sing one song by Queen and another of their choice. Testone, a 2001 Kinnelon High School graduate, chose "I Want it All" by Queen and Jimi Hendrix's "Bold as Love." Read more about Testone's time on "American Idol" here. The first performance of "I Want it All" had all three judges raving about her talent. "You sang that like the classical song it was, if not even better, tonight," Steven Tyler said. Jennifer Lopez, another judge on the show, said she was not only …

Read about Testone's time on "American Idol" here. The banner reads "You are Truly Kinnelon's Idol" and was sent by Laura Gennat's third grade class just before spring break on April 5. Kinnelon native still in the running after another bottom-three finish.
Elise Testone surprised everyone this week when the New Jersey native squeaked through to another round of "American Idol." Heading into the final six weeks of competition, Testone was widely regarded as the "underdog." Even judge Jennifer Lopez hinted that she was failing to connect emotionally with "Idol's" teenybopper viewership. Testone, a week after nearly going home in a nail-biter elimination, had to give strong performances this week. Though her rendition of "No One" by Alicia Keys was solid, her later performance of "Let's Get it On" by Marvin Gaye left something to desire. "Elise has a vacation home in the bottom 3," said show mentor and music executive Jimmy Iovine. "She's always there." Read more about Testone's time on "Idol…
