Ferati's Pizza Spends Their First Year in Butler

Owner has been operating under Ferati's Pizza for a year, but also owned the previously named Aroma Pizza.

Ferati’s Pizza has been open for about a year, but owner Al Ferati had taken over Aroma Pizza, the previous pizza restaurant at 2 Boonton Ave., and transitioned the pizzeria into what we now know as Ferati’s. The family also owned pizzerias in other areas before settling in Butler. Ferati’s Pizza sits on the corner of the street but parking is available. Although delivery was not available at first, the restaurant has since started delivering for free. Ferati’s is a small pizzeria but with enough tables to sit down and eat at the restaurant. There are many specialty pizza pies available, along with a menu of Italian dishes, subs and salads. During my visit, my guest had ordered the mussels ($7), which are also available in a Hot and Spicy …

Family Continues Pizza King Legacy in Butler

Restaurant is run by a father-and-son team, bringing many different specialty pies to the tri-boro.

If you have been in the area long enough, you may remember Pizza King in the Meadtown Shopping Center, in Kinnelon. When friends of the Pagliarulo family closed the doors of Pizza King, the Pagliarulo family was opening a pizzeria and decided to takeover the Pizza King name, continuing the legacy of the popular tri-boro pizza joint. Now located at 1574 Route 23 North, Sal and Joe Pagliarulo work together to bring their customers specialty pies along with classic Italian meals. When I stopped in, Sal was actually away in Italy, where he goes every year to pick up new ideas for specialty pies. Joe, his son, was running the pizzeria, when I noticed a lot of walk in’s for Sicilian pies, which are only $10 any day of the week. I have heard …

A Surprising Sandwich at Stop & Shop

Supermarket's sandwiches are fresh and tasty.

When you're on the hunt for a good sandwich, if you're like many of us, you'll settle for nothing better than fresh meats and cheeses, vegetables and the perfect bread-soft on the inside, but crusty on the outside. First, this sandwich does exist and no, you do not need to go to a high-end deli to get it. You'd be surprised by the sandwich you can find in the Stop & Shop deli. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice: Stop & Shop-What can you buy at this store? What can't you buy at this store? But we're not going to go there. For this article it's all about the sandwiches. Stop & Shop makes deli sandwiches fresh every morning in two varieties: a smaller …

Dessert Worth the Wait With Danny's Fried Oreos

Danny's Pizza offers carnival-style dessert along with delicious sandwiches and slices.

Having eaten at Danny's Pizza several times, I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. The night I went to Danny's to prepare this review was no exception—especially after dessert. My guest and I went to Danny's Pizza on a weeknight and several families sat in the dining section of the restaurant around us. We both decided not to order pizza this time and instead went with sandwiches. My guest had the California Cheese Steak ($7) and I went with the classic Turkey and Cheese Sub ($6). The bread was fresh and I enjoyed the red onions, which seemed a little unique to this type of sandwich to me but definitely added a great flavor to the meal. I personally am very particular with my cheese and prefer a nice deli cut yellow American …

Restaurant Review: Anthony Franco's

With seven locations, Anthony Franco's Butler serves specialty slices in addition to sandwiches and Italian specialties.

Growing up in the area, I often ate at the original Anthony Franco’s, in Lincoln Park at least once a week. I still frequent the Lincoln Park location, and having frequented a few of the other locations, I know their food is good. The Butler restaurant is nicely decorated with booths aligning the windows for people who choose to dine in. They have televisions by the dining area, which on this particular night had the cartoon network on, which is nice when you have young children. The tables were filling fast on this Tuesday evening, with people coming in and out, picking up their orders. After my guest and I seated ourselves, a waitress came over to see if we would we like something to drink. After she returned, I asked to start with the …

Mom and Pop Restaurant Treats You Like Family

You will think it is Sunday dinner with the family when you walk into this Butler pizzeria.

While pizzerias and Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in New Jersey, very few are your cozy little “mom and pop” style restaurants. Giovanni’s Place is owned and operated by Giovanni Impelluso himself, along with his wife, Melina. From the moment you walk through the door they are there to greet you, take your order, cook, and serve your food to you, which is why Giovanni's Place is this week's pick for Bites Nearby. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice: Giovanni's Place-Giovanni and Melina have been in Butler for seven years and bring new dishes and specials on a bi-weekly basis. One of their popular specialty winter dishes is the “Sunday Dinner” …

Bravo Ashley and Patch for recognizing Giovanni and Melina and the wonderful way they bring the taste of Sicily to our neighborhood! We love the personal pizzas, the soups, the "chorlic" and bread, and all the specials they offer. La Baita Offers Taste of Italy in Butler

Restaurant serves Italian cuisine of fresh seafood, pasta, daily specials and homemade desserts.

La Baita, an Italian restaurant located in Butler at 98 Main St., offers customers a unique dining experience by making them feel as if they have stepped right into the heart of Italy. By name, La Baita translates to "the refuge," and the restaurant surely offers diners an escape from everyday life into a friendly Italian atmosphere. Walking into the restaurant, I noticed that customers dining are quick to make conversation with each other, making you feel as if you were attending Sunday dinner among family. Fresh seafood, pork chops, pasta, daily specials and exquisite homemade desserts are just a few things on La Baita's menu. Gluten-free wheat products are also available upon request.
