Tell us what you think the most dangerous main thoroughfare in the borough is and why.
A road does not have to be slippery to seem dangerous to some drivers and even with warmer weather on the horizon, some of the main roads in the borough may not seem as safe as others. Recently, a report has designated Route 46 as the most dangerous road in Morris County. Now we want to know what you think is the most dangerous main road in Kinnelon. Participate in our poll below and let us know in the comments why you think that road is dangerous. Also share with us the smaller streets you tend to not feel as safe driving on and why.

Despite continued concerns over pedestrian safety at the intersection of Route 23 and Kiel Avenue, further safety improvements in the area will likely not be considered by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), according to the Suburban Trends. The Trends reported that Cascade Way resident Bob Norman approached the Butler Council on Aug. 21 to ask whether a footbridge could be created at the intersection. Norman has also previously approached the council asking if cameras could be installed on traffic lights at the intersection, as many cars are making illegal left turns, he said. The borough has received some funding from the DOT for safety improvements in that area, including a new speed countdown meter which tells …

Butler resident Bob Norman is sick of seeing cars make illegal turns from Kiel Avenue on to Route 23. But the Butler Council told him Tuesday there is not much that can be done about it. According to NorthJersey.com, Norman approached the council about his concerns, but the council advised him that the state owns Route 23 and, as such, cannot make modifications, such as adding a camera, to the traffic light there. However, Butler police officers do regularly patrol in that area in addition to all other areas in the borough. Norman also approached the council in December to ask about illegal turns on to Route 23 and illegal turns on Main Street. The borough is aware of safety issues in that particular area and has received funding from the …

Not having any stats to go by, I am going to say Kinnelon Road, especially the section west of Fayson Lakes Road toward Powerville Road in Boonton Township. I am basing this on the number of serious motor vehicle accidents and even fatal wrecks that I dispatched over the years on Kinnelon Road compared to the others. For those who don't know me I dispatched police, first aid, fire and electric …   more ›
