New Restaurant, Retail Shops May Come to Boonton Ave.

Kinnelon Board of Adjustment hears continued testimony on application for former Marco's Market location.

The Kinnelon Zoning Board of Adjustment got some clarity Tuesday on the possible intended uses for a development HMR Properties, LLC, is hoping to build on Boonton Avenue where Marco's Market used to be. The property, located at 84 Boonton Avenue and adjacent to Kinnelon Country Wine & Liquor, has been vacant for nearly two years after a fire destroyed the produce and grocery store that stood there. Now, HMR Properties, in affiliation with Badanco Holding Co., is seeking to construct a two-story, 10,000-square foot mixed office and retail building on the 9.5-acre site. I agree with John, this town ain't big enough for the type of venues Badan is proposing. What this town needs is more rec fields! A park with a playscape or dog park would be wonderful! While we're at it, for what Kinnelon is trying to market itself as, an upper middle/upper class town, and I know the council doesn't have control over them but can we get rid of the Pathmark? maybe re-do Meadtown…   more ›

Water Tank Will 'Ruin' My Property's Beauty, Resident Says

Testimony continues for Fayson Lakes Water Co.'s variance application to build new water tank.

The Kinnelon Zoning Board of Adjustment heard more testimony Tuesday regarding the Fayson Lakes Water Co.'s (FLWC) application for a height variance for a proposed new water tank on Galloway Terrace. The issue has been ongoing since July 2011, when FLWC first approached the Kinnelon Council with their proposal to replace the existing 100,000-gallon water tank on Galloway. The proposed tank would be 79 feet tall, holding 250,000 gallons of water. FLWC needs to have a variance approved by the Kinnelon Board of Adjustment in order to build such a large tank, as the town ordinance limits the height to nothing larger than 35 feet in a residential zone.
