Kinnelon Students Place Second in University Film Competition

More than 300 teachers and students participated in 'French Day' event.

A group of Kinnelon High School students won second place in a Montclair State University film competition March 1 that included secondary school students from New Jersey and Pennsylvania during the university's "French Day." The event was sponsored by the Language and Humanities Departments and the film competition asked students to demonstrate the French language through depiction of places where French is spoken in the world today. Sophie Tiajoloff, Andreas Goergen, Aemin Becker and Toby Arguello participated on behalf of KHS and were led by French teacher Sophie Adams. Butler Native Baking Up a Business

Sarah Cox hopes to win grant money to jump-start cake decorating venture.

It all started seven years ago with a simple crafts magazine from a grocery store. "I was a freshman in high school. I was looking in a magazine and I saw a cake that was really cute, so I decided to bake it for my birthday and it was a big hit. It just made me more interested in the field," said Sarah Cox, 20, a Montclair State University student from Butler. Cox is hoping to win the lovealocalbusiness contest for $50,000 to start her own cake-decorating business. After that initial spark, Cox became more excited as television caught up with her interests. "Once the cake shows became a big thing, that's really how I learned a lot.
