Kinnelon Cinema 3 Closes the Curtain May 27

Bow Tie Cinemas opted not to acquire Clearview properties on month-to-month leases, as the Kinnelon 3 is.

May 27 is the swan song for Butler's Kinnelon Cinema 3. Cablevision, owner of Clearview Cinemas, is selling 21 of its New Jersey properties to Connecticut-based Bow Tie Cinemas. The Kinnelon 3, formerly a one-screen movie house known alternately as the Kinnelon Arts Center and Meadtown Theater, and has been in the Clearview roster since the early 1970s, is among the handful of theaters not included in the deal. Butler Blockbuster to Shut Its Doors

Route 23 location in Butler to close for good on Feb. 13.

It's hard to tell from the upbeat and generally friendly attitude of the employees at the Butler Blockbuster, but the store will be closing its doors for good on Feb.13. Beginning last Friday, and continuing until Sunday, Feb. 13, the Blockbuster at 1224 State Route 23 will be selling everything in its store and clearing out. All items on the shelves, including movies and games, and even the shelves themselves will be sold. According to employees, who declined to give their names due to corporate restrictions, the lease on the building is up and Blockbuster Inc. has decided not to renew at that location. While several calls to Blockbuster Inc. were not returned, the closing could be reflective of a steady downward trend for Blockbuster. …
