Righty then. The Tea Party, its agenda and the very meaning of its name have nothing at all to do with people paying less taxes. The goal is "fiscal restraint." The Tea Party would be indifferent or even delighted to see taxes go up. They just want to see the government spend that tax revenue more efficiently. ROTFL!   more ›

Christie Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff For Boston

All state buildings will comply with executive order on Thursday.

Governor Chris Christie issued an executive order calling for flags to be flown at half-staff on all state buildings Thursday to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing and show solidarity with the city, officials said. The order, which was issued late Tuesday, will effect state and U.S. flags on “all State departments, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities during appropriate hours on Thursday, April 18, 2013, in recognition and mourning of the passing of the victims of the bombings that took place at the Boston Marathon,” a release from the governor’s office said. Three people were killed and more than 130 injured when two explosions rocked the finish line of the world's most prominent marathon. The two explosions came as …

Remember what Christie’s number one reason for not passing the “millionaires tax” was? He did not want to tax the people in this state who had money to invest in the state and create jobs, because they might then leave the state. Well here’s today’s news – More than 800,000 high wage earners have left the state, we are bleeding jobs, manufacturing doesn't even exist here anymore, and now the Hess…   more ›

Steve Sweeney Won’t Run for Governor in ’13

Senate president bows of the out of the race before it starts, saying his attention is needed to keep Democrats in control of the state Legislature.

State Senate President Stephen M. Sweeney announced Monday he has decided not to run for governor this year. Sweeney said on his Facebook page his focus will center on keeping a Democratic majority in the state Legislature: After careful consideration and much deliberation, I will not be a candidate for governor in 2013. I've decided my work now needs to be focused on ensuring the Legislature remains in Democratic control. Is there any question about the havoc and pain a Republican Legislature would inflict on the middle class, labor, women and our seniors? For over a decade, New Jersey voters have ensured we have a strong Democratic majority in both houses and I view it as absolutely essential and my job to keep that streak going. We will…

Gov. Christie: New Jersey back to 'new normal.'

New Jersey has entered a new normal, Gov. Chris Christie said Monday. With the recovery effort largely concluded, the focus of state and federal agencies will turn to rebuilding the parts of New Jersey devastated by Hurricane Sandy, he noted during an appearance at the newly established Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Joint Field Office at the former Avaya building in Lincroft. “We’ve returned to a sense of normalcy, that’s why I have the fleece off,” Christie said, joking about his signature accessory at a series of press conferences and appearances across the state. “It’s time to go back to work. It’s time to now focus on the task of rebuilding our state. The rebuilding process is not going to be easy. It’s going to be …

Governor said Hurricane Sandy is poised to strike New Jersey between Atlantic City and Toms River.

Governor Chris Christie formally requested President Barack Obama declare a pre-landfall emergency for New Jersey, according to a press release issued by the governor's office. The declaration would allow the state to request funding and other assistance for actions taken in advance of Hurricane Sandy. "We have taken this action to assist communities which have taken extraordinary measures to insure the safety of the public during this very serious and dangerous storm," Christie said in the release. Hurricane Sandy is expected to bring flooding, high winds and heavy rain across the state over a period of 36 hours starting early Monday morning. During a press conference in Pompton Lakes on Sunday afternoon, Christie said the hurricane is …
