Butler mayor hopes Mother Nature brings an easy 2013.
As people all across the world look forward to a new year, Bloomingdale Mayor Jonathan Dunleavy already had a few New Year's resolutions in mind. Six, in fact. Dunleavy said he hopes to promote smart growth in the borough by declaring redevelopment areas and bringing in new revenue to help stabilize taxes. He also wants to explore all possible shared services agreements the borough could enter into and invest in Bloomingdale's infrastructure, an issue that has come up a few times in the past year. Resident awareness and participation are also important to Dunleavy in 2013, as he said he hopes to "make sure all residents are aware of the business of the borough" and will promote residents getting involved in the process. The year 2013 will bring lots of New Year's resolutions, and the stress of keeping them up along with it. Dr. Megan Hood, a clinical psychologist with an expertise in stress management at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center, said trying to attain a more stress-free existence is a pretty popular goal around the holidays and the new year. But staying away from stress is not as simple as making a New Year’s Eve wish. “That tends to be a common goal, a nice broad goal,” Hood said. “But it also tends to be challenging.” Still, Hood has some tips to keep stress at bay.
