Burn Victims Airlifted After Bloomingdale Apartment Fire

Four apartments uninhabitable after morning fire at Mountain Top Estates.

A man and woman were airlifted to the St. Barnabas Medical Center after suffering from facial burns in a fire Friday morning at the Mountain Top Estates apartment complex in Bloomingdale, according to Police Chief Joseph Borell. Both were in critical but stable condition as of Friday afternoon. Four apartments are now uninhabitable as a result of the fire. Four additional apartments were damaged. Firefighters arrived on the scene on Forest Drive around 7:20 a.m. to find a second-story apartment engulfed in flames. The victims, both in their 30s, are tenants of the apartment that was on fire, Borell said. In addition to facial burns, they both suffered from smoke inhalation. I was under the impression that the Borough funds all of the equipment and expenses of the FD. The donations do not fund it. I am not quite sure where the donations go but I think it is for the firemen's hall.   more ›
