A man accused of stabbing an acquaintance to death inside a rented Riverdale home on Hamburg Turnpike last year was indicted on murder charges Monday. According to the Daily Record, the man, 39-year-old Margarito P. Flores, was charged with the murder of Alberto Sierra-Arias, 31, by a Morris County grand jury. Flores was also indicted on charges of hindering apprehension after he allegedly hid the handle of the knife used to stab Sierra-Arias four times, the blade remaining lodged in his thigh. Flores was arrested on April 19, 2011 after the stabbing was reported by a Hamburg Turnpike resident. Read the full story from the Daily Record here.
Police are investigating aggravated assault of 29-year-old Jonathan Ulises Lopez Gallegos.
Police are investigating what they've now labeled an aggravated assault incident after they found Bloomingdale resident Jonathan Ulises Lopez Gallegos, 29, unconscious and covered in blood with stab wounds Tuesday morning. When police arrived at the scene, they found Gallegos at the intersection of Birch Street and Union Avenue at about 12:40 a.m. Police said he had injuries on his face and stab wounds on his arm and torso. It is not yet known if the victim and alleged assaulter knew each other and what caused the altercation. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, where police said he has now been released from the Intensive Care Unit and is listed in stable condition.
