Firefighters, police spent an hour putting out grease fire at Butler Stop & Shop.
Butler police and fire officials spent about an hour Monday battling a blaze that started in the chicken rotisserie at the Butler Stop & Shop. Fire Chief Jim Neill said the fire started around noon. "It was burning pretty good," he said. "The chicken grease and the chickens were engulfed in flames." Neill said no hose was used to extinguish the fire but six fire extinguishers were used by police officers and firefighters, disseminating a powder on to the grease. No damage, except to the chicken rotisserie, was reported and nobody was injured, Neill said. "Nobody was hurt, except for the chickens. They turned out to be little hockey pucks," he said. The Butler Board of Health later inspected the scene and deemed the store to be safe.

Every dollar spent could benefit local schools.
The Kinnelon Elementary Home and School Association (KEHSA) is asking for local grocery shoppers' help in earning money for Kiel and Stonybrook Schools. KEHSA Co-President Erin Gadhavi sent an email through the school district's textcaster Wednesday asked Stop & Shop shoppers to register their Stop & Shop cards in one or both of the schools' names to earn money for the district under the A+ School Rewards Program. "A+ School Rewards is a simple and easy fundraiser for schools. With A+ School Rewards your school earns points that become cash for your school," according to Stop & Shop's website. The website also said $2.5 million will be awarded to local schools this year. Tri-Boro Patch reached out to the Butler Stop & Shop's manager, but …

The owner of a 16-year-old Domestic Short-Haired Tabby/Calico cat is asking for the community's help in finding Toonces. Toonces went missing the evening of Sept. 2 and was last seen on Eric Drive in Kinnelon, near the Pearl R. Miller and Kiel Schools. A flier for the missing cat could be seen on the bulletin board at the Butler Stop & Shop. The female cat is small, only 10 lbs., and is an indoor cat, although she has all her claws. Anyone who has seen Toonces is asked to contact Alan at 973-885-2743. If you have a missing pet you'd like to tell the community about, let us know at ariana.cohn@patch.com

Supermarket's sandwiches are fresh and tasty.
When you're on the hunt for a good sandwich, if you're like many of us, you'll settle for nothing better than fresh meats and cheeses, vegetables and the perfect bread-soft on the inside, but crusty on the outside. But we're not going to go there. For this article it's all about the sandwiches. Stop & Shop makes deli sandwiches fresh every morning in two varieties: a smaller …
