American Idol Contestant: I Love Coming Home to Kinnelon

Elise Testone said she practiced singing in borough's natural surroundings.

She may be gracing a stage in Hollywood now as she compete's on FOX's hit singing show "American Idol," performing before three celebrity judges and an audience of millions, but while she was growing up in Kinnelon, Elise Testone was often performing for the trees. "I loved growing up in Kinnelon, I miss it so much," Testone said in an interview with Tri-Boro Patch Tuesday. "I was really into hiking and all the trails and lakes around the reservoir. I had some friends where we would hike and we would play guitar, kind of hippie-ish." Testone, a 2001 Kinnelon High School graduate, attended college at Coastal Carolina University and said she's lived in "the Carolinas" ever since. Kinnelon 'American Idol' Contestant Moves on to Hollywood

Elise Testone described Kinnelon as a 'small town.'

Elise Testone, a 2001 Kinnelon High School graduate, was sent by American Idol judges to Hollywood during Wednesday's season premiere. E! Online's website labels Testone "the now-requisite Janis Joplin growler of the bunch" after she belted out a soulful song for Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler on the episode. Testone told Skirt!Charleston, a women's magazine based out of Charleston, that she was from Kinnelon in 2008. She described the borough as "a small town called Kinnelon in New Jersey-many mountains, small lakes and natural hiking trails." According to Skirt!Charleston, Testone's first job was at Taste of Reality Deli. Testone's Facebook page said she graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2005 with a bachelor's…
