Car Break-ins Reported in Bloomingdale Neighborhoods

Money, jewelry, paperwork and electronics taken from unlocked vehicles.

Bloomingdale police are investigating several cases of apparent car break-ins in which the contents of glove compartments and center consoles were "strewn about" cars, some items stolen, according to police. Cash, jewelry, electronics and paperwork were among the items reported on Sunday and Monday to be stolen from cars, Ptl. Dan Fletcher said. Police believe the apparent thefts happened either late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning. Fletcher said residents from the following roads reported a person or persons had entered their vehicles (see map): Hilltop Terrace, Oak Street, Hillcrest Drive, Hillside Drive, Knolls Road, Charles Street and Rafkind Road. Cops: Man Buys Jewelry With Stolen Credit Cards

Police said jeweler became suspicious when thief pretended to be a rapper.

Kinnelon police arrested 24-year-old Alden Wing, of West Milford, Friday on charges of credit card fraud, identity theft, theft by deception, possession of stolen property and forgery. According to police, Wing had allegedly stolen two credit cards from his grandparents while living in West Milford and used them to purchase more than $22,000 worth of jewelry from Kinnelon Jewelry, over a two-month period. Police said the jeweler became suspicious after Wing allegedly told the jeweler he was a rapper and needed the jewelry for his entourage. Det. Sgt. David Crouthamel, along with investigators from Bank of America and Chase Bank, investigated the incident and arrested Wing on Friday. He was processed at the Bergen County jail, where police …

Men Arrested for Alleged Theft and Possession of Needles

Kinnelon Police respond to reports of suspicious activity on White Birch Terrace.

Kinnelon Police arrested two men, one from Bloomingdale and one from West Milford, Wednesday morning after reports of alleged suspicious activity on White Birch Terrace. According to Lt. John Schwartz, police received calls regarding the alleged activity around 7:30 a.m. Police said an off-duty police officer, who was at the scene, reported a white Ford pickup truck drop off a white male in the neighborhood and then leave the area. Police said the officer observed the male allegedly walking around the neighborhood, looking at the homes. The police officer then approached the male, identifying himself, at which point the man started to run down Kiel Avenue, according to police.
