Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the June 4 primary election, where Tri-Boro municipal council races are the only local contests. The primary election race for two available Bloomingdale Council seats will be uncontested in June. The action will come for the November general election, when Democrats Dawn Hudson and Anthony Costa take on Republican incumbent Linda Shortman and her running mate, newcomer Albert Miller for two three-year seats. Tri-Boro voters seemed to favor a Republican choice for president during Tuesday's general election. Of Kinnelon's 7,463 registered voters, 3,216 voted for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney while 1,626 voted for President Barack Obama. In Butler, 1,734 residents voted for Romney and 1,363 voted for Obama while in Bloomingdale, 1,704 voted for Romney and 1,569 voted for Obama. In 2008, the majority of tri-boro voters chose a Republican candidate for president, according to the New Jersey Department of State. In Kinnelon, 3,638 voters chose John McCain and 2,105 voters chose Obama. I am very happy at Bloomingdale's results! I find it to be very weird that Butler and Bloomingdale leaned towards Romney, when they are clearly middle class neighborhoods. Is is like a chicken routing for Colonel Sanders!   more ›
