Writing on a bathroom wall at Woodmont Elementary School in Montville prompted a bomb scare and an evacuation of the school Wednesday morning while police and a bomb squad checked the building to be sure it was safe, police and school officials said. No bomb was found. Police have released a slideshow of an individual they are trying to identify who was on Finley Lane in Wayne at the time a home on that street was burglarized April 20. Zach Rice of Long Valley, who suffers from avascular necrosis of the hip, has joined forces with Goryeb Children's Hospital to raise funds for gaming systems for patients. Bud Bennett's Life Remembered, Local School Reports Top Tri-Boro News

For all 101 years of his life, Laurence "Bud" Benett was part of a family. And for at least 57 of them, he was part of a second one. In response to new data reports released by the state Department of Education this week, superintendents from the Kinnelon and Butler school districts said they found discrepancies in the data. Seven Kinnelon families will be bringing a global experience into their homes this summer when they host international high school students from Spain, China, Italy, Germany and France. While Kinnelon High School fully met its target of academic achievement in the 2011-12 school year, new data released by the New Jersey Department of Education shows the school is lagging behind its school peers in the area. All five members present at Tuesday's Kinnelon Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting unanimously approved a bulk variance for a proposed retail and restaurant complex to be built on Boonton Avenue in the space of the former Marco's Market by HMR Properties, LLC. Three Republicans will vie for two Kinnelon Council seats that will be open this November during the June 4 primary. The June primary election may be quiet for the race for two Bloomingdale Council seats that will be open this November, but the general election will have two Democrats facing two Republicans for three-year terms. Two developing trends are keeping the Bloomingdale Police Department busy, Police Chief Joseph Borell told the Bloomingdale Council in his annual report on Tuesday evening. With Clearview Cinemas' Kinnelon 11 playing anchor to the shopping center, Kinnelon Mall has long been a place where young people hang out before and after a movie, or even when they're not seeing a movie at all. But now Kinnelon Police Chief John Finkle is concerned about the kids hanging out at the mall after the department has received several complaints.
