Services for a Kinnelon man who was found dead in the woods of the Apshawa Preserve in West Milford on Feb. 2 will be held Saturday at the Smoke Rise Village Inn. Bjoern Waalberg, who was 51, was found by West Milford Search and Rescue team volunteers after his Labrador retriever, who he had been hiking with earlier that day, led them to his body. A gathering will be held from noon to 4 p.m. a the Inn and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday for Waalberg. The community is invited to attend.

Police said wife called after her husband did not return home Saturday.
The body of a 51-year-old Kinnelon man was found by rescue volunteers and West Milford police in the woods of the Apshawa Preserve Saturday night after the dog he had gone hiking with earlier that day led authorities to him. The man, Bjoern Waalberg, was dead when police arrived on the scene just after 7 p.m. when they were notified by Waalberg's wife that he had not returned home, Lt. John Matarese of the West Milford Police Department, said. The cause of his death is still under investigation and Matarese could not comment on whether Waalberg's death appears to be suspicious. More than $10,000 worth of steroids, marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia were seized from a Bloomingdale home last week during a drug arrest a year in the making, according to Suburban Trends. Tyler Fontan, 21, of Bloomingdale, was served with seven charges, including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of steroids. He was arrested in Bloomingdale on Tuesday around 11 a.m. after a search warrant approved by the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office was executed on the home by West Milford and Bloomingdale police.
