Kinnelon OEM warns that wind could still bring snow-laden branches down.
Just over a foot of snow was dropped on the tri-boro as the Kinnelon Office of Emergency Management shared information on their Facebook page from the NOAA declaring 12.5 accumulated inches of snow fell in Butler on Friday. "Branches are laden with heavy snow, so some additional branches may come down," the Kinnelon OEM said. While residents dug out their driveways Saturday morning, the Kinnelon OEM said little to no power outages were reported during the storm and no significant damage had been called in. Police ask residents to park in driveways so plows can come through.
Police are warning residents not to park their vehicles on borough roadways as plow trucks and salters make their way through the tri-boro to clear roadways. This can cause a safety risk to motorists surrounding the snow-covered car. Butler and Bloomingdale have similar parking bans that ask residents not to park on streets, not only during and after snowstorms, but during certain times …

"We are gearing up for additional snow, sleet and ice accumulations which will become steadier and heavier towards Friday evening as the colder air moves in resulting in the bulk of the anticipated snow accumulations," he said. "Forecasts suggest that this will be a long duration and intense storm which will likely last over a 24-hour time frame." The National Weather Service predicted between 10 and 16 inches of snow in Morris, Sussex and Warren …

My point had nothing to do with getting alerts! It's getting an alert about parking on the streets when it snows. I don't need to be alerted that its going to snow and I can't park in the streets. That's what I meant! It's a waste of time getting alerts on things people should already know.   more ›
