  • On the article Outages Drop as JCP&L Adds More Manpower

Trees and lines are down ALL OVER THE STATE in EVERY TOWN. They ALL look like your block/town. There are 4 houses on my block that have trees IN them, not to mention the 4 trees on the power lines. And every one I know has the same thing on their street. The JCP&L people are trying to get up their substations ( with there own tree and water issues) and are working on clearing the NJ transit lines so Mass transit can get going, which I guarantee is higher on the priority list than any residential neighborhood. Once that is done they will start working on downed trees and powerlines. Over 90% of all JCP&L customers lost power, It is going to take WEEKS to get it all back.

If you only have no power, you are lucky, you should be thankful. There are tons of people who lost so much and would give anything to only be worried about being cold for a few days. Stop complaining, be patient and get some perspective.

If they were going to eliminate free travel, then the union workers should not get free rides either.

Shunpike Field is not the field that is having the problem with Madison and the lights. That is Cougar Field.

I hope there are some lights for the path from the fields to the parking lot. Very dark.

All the truckers use GPS now and don't read the signs anymore. They just blindly follow the the woman giving the direrctions. More signs won't help if the drivers do pay attention to them.

  • On the article Presidential Debate: Readers React to Obama, Romney

Unfortunately there is no substance to Obama, there never was. He ran on buzz words 2008. He has been known as the teleprompter president for a reason. And last night proved it. He was so afraid to say something wrong, he said nothing at all. I'm sure whoever was in charge of preparing Obama for this debate got fired today. The Dems underestimated Romney's ability as a speaker/ debater and his intelligence. It also doesn't help matters that Obama has no accomplishments to run on.

Every major news outlet gave the debate to Romney, many very grudgingly. Whether or not you agree with any of his policies, I don't think there is a question that Romney won the debate the last night. Obama looked out of his league, like he had no idea what to say or how to back up his positions. It looked like Obama came in comletely unprepared and was afraid to confront Romney on anything.

I liked this Bill Maher tweet the best " I can't believe I'm saying this, but Obama looks likes he DOES need a teleprompter"

  • On the article Chatham High Ranking Based on Wrong Data, BOE President Says

Fyffe, said ""Frankly I don’t think the state has responded or corrected the data. If NJ Monthly took the raw data, that creates all kinds of issues," In other words, he has no idea if New Jersey Monthly used the corrected data or not. He is just trying to justify a huge drop in ranking by blowing smoke. And, by the way, Chathams 12.3 faculty ratio is the highest in the top 60 not just the top 20 - Where are the scores going to be in 2 more years?

These ranking are based on more than test scores for a reason. There is more to life than test scores. You can't just take the categories that Chatham is the best in and declare that these are the only things that count and give us a ranking of four. By the way, even with the limited parameters that were picked there are at least 3 schools currently ranked below 20 that might be ranked above Chatham (Princeton, west Windsor and Haddonfield ).

All schools use the same for formula for graduation rate , whether you agree with it or not, it is what it is and all schools have to deal with it. That graduation rate is lower in Chatham and it should be counted toward the rankings.

The same goes for class size, it is a very important factor. Now is there a significant difference between in learning for a child if they have 17 or 19 kids in their class? Probably not, but there is a difference between 20 and 25. If you were moving to a new school district wouldn't you want to know how many kids were going to be in your child's class?

Profiency in advanced math is the only category which, seemed to me, that Chatham could use improvement in as the were several schools with significantly higher percentages.

Chatham is a very good school our children will not be at a disadvantage graduatiing from there. Is it the best school in the state? No, but it is certainly one of the best.

She did get some thing she got $3600 more than it costs to physically replace the dog.

Awards for pain and suffering. No amount of money can compensate for the loss of a love one.

Please tell me how a monetary award of let's say $10,000 (because clearly $3600 didn't ) can assuage this woman's grief? If it actually can then we can say she is just a greedy self serving person who is trying to make money off a tragedy.
