A nice, uplifting news story about a group of really kind young women who find a way, even though they're busy and have many responsibilities, to reach out and bring a bright spot to our neighbors who might have fallen on hard times. Inspiring.

These folks are twisted up about the wrong issues when it comes to protecting constitutional rights and limiting the expansion of government's role in their lives. If they view their government as a potential hazard to themselves, then they're really doing the government a huge favor by barking and growling about guns instead of drawing focus on the real dangers threatening their most innate rights as citizens and humans. The government is so far ahead in their thinking.

Your reflex is absolutely Pavlovian! Have you ever had a meaningful exchange of ideas with a creature that salivates at the ring of a bell? We have to stop blaming Congress for ALL of our problems - they do, after all, represent all breeds of American.

    To Mr. Comfortably Numb,
So, the problem is that everyone just cries too much these days, huh? I have to say you've done an excellent job in reducing society's ills to a simple generational factor - too much waaah-waaah blubbering from the younger people. I think you're right, kids today should have the strength to tolerate a little sociopathic behavior in their mentors. I'm going to say its all the video games with first-person shooters and guns and bombs. Why not just develop a video game called "Mentor This Ya Little Queer" and let our youngsters grow accustomed to dysfunctional adults screaming at them, throwing objects at them (hey, just duck, ladies!!!), being kicked and, of course, diddled in the back. Boy Scout Troops and Churches just don't attract enough kids to make a dent with these drooling complaining babies - we must turn to something that can harden them (no pun intended) to dysfunctional mentoring right from the get go ... and VIDEO GAMES is the answer. We could have the losing characters in the games have to go to virtual counselors and be point-penalized for each fluid ounce of tears their avatars produce from their frilly hurt feelings! It's a million-seller, right C.N.?

Antonio ... if you're going to spew Republican/Conservative propaganda then at least get it right ... especially the basics. Colleges with a "liberal agenda" are 1) not shameless ... quite the opposite, in fact. Don't you know that we "Liberals" live in a world of self-imposed guilt? That's why we're always trying to "right the wrongs of the past" and "pay huge reparations to those we've harmed - even if it happened over a hundred years ago?"

    2) Colleges with "liberal agendas" would terminate Rice immediately and look for proof later as we Democrats are spineless jelly-creatures who believe organized sports - especially BIG-TIME organized sports only detract from our left-leaning academic program and take money away from new courses we want to develop on Adopting Socialist Practices For Pre-K Students here in Amerika and hiring hard-charging femi-nazi professors to further diminish brutish male dominance on campus.

You are absolute correct about Penn State - it is clearly the most liberal of all Universities - surely all that liberalism led to the horror show in the steam rooms. Joe Paterno's diaries proved that he had a major, life-long crush on Jane Fonda. You have much to learn about left and right, Grasshopper ... much to learn.

I've moaned and groaned about this exact issue for years ... you couldn't be MORE right. Why have a numeric GPA system at all if you're going to base it on current letter grading? Perhaps the best answer is to altogether remove the antiquated "Little Red School House" letter grading system (only to convert it to GPA when the student reaches 9th grade) and simply implement numeric grades right from the start. If the purpose of grades is to, first, indicate a student's personal class performance and, later, demonstrate that student comparative standing in their class, issue "Numbers" instead of letter grades. Certainly it will give teachers more latitude at report card time for kids riding the cusp of a grade. If we can all get used to using "new words" like google, texting and even "tebowing," we can all get used to excitedly telling the grandparents that "Little Johnny came home with straight 4's!"

Even though my kid is in one of the competing bands, I understand that all of the bands are really talented. Please come out and support a good solid event like this - its a total win-win-win for the kids, for the anti-drug programs and for the township itself. If you haven't been to the YMCA, they have a terrific professional-quality auditorium and stage in a very well-kept facility. Come out on Saturday! You'll have fun, for sure.
