ReplySaturdays? That's ridiculous. I think taking away from spring break or extending the year makes 150x more sense. Most of these kids have other commitments on Saturdays that mean a lot to them, like sports, etc. Has anyone given any consideration to what parents have financally invested in activities outside of school and how much these kids have committed to these activities? I understand this is a unique year due to circumstances but I think going to school on Saturdays will definitely have more of a negative impact then extending the year or losing Spring Break. Passover you need to be home by sunset and Easter is on a Sunday. Under the circumstances I think most parents would be ok with their kid going to school on Good Friday. If Passover doesn't fall near Easter, the schools aren't usually closed anyway. So that's interesting that they are even mentioned Passover. As for Good Friday, I'm sure the churches can have masses after school hours to accomodate if necessary. The Saturday thing really needs to be thought through, I truly believe it is a ridiculous option. Oh and good luck negotiating with the teachers association.

No one is turning away non-union workers. Get your facts straight. There was one incident mis-interpreted and completey blown out of proportion. My brother-in-law is here working, he is a non-union worker from Michigan (fact). Under the circumstances they are doing the best they can to get everything up and running. We have been told a multitude of times that they will work on what brings the most up first. Unfortunately part of the down side of living in beautiful "remote" area is your power won't be brought back first but it will be brought back.. Yes, it is annoying to have no power but really, is it the end of the world???? Get a grip and suck it up! You too, will survive (thankfully).

There is NO gas shortage. Common sense dictates that with only some stations open (those with power or a generator) and EVERYONE going to those few they WILL run out of gas. The stations without power still have gas but obviously can't distribute it any customers. Really, how do people not get this??? It doesn't surprise me when I saw how many people needed the odd/even license plate thing explained about 40 times! Come on...

There is NO gas shortage. Gas stations are running out of gas only because the other stations aren't open due to lack of power! If all stations were open they would not be running out of gas. If only a few are open - common sense they will run out of gas if EVERYONE can only go to those few. The governor is correct!! I cannot believe how people just don't get this stuff. Everyone needd lessons to get the odd even thing for their license plates... really, come on!!!!

I agree with Hookerman. A few days from each break would be adequate. I was not saying to take Good Friday specifically I was saying take from Spring Break and other days versus going on Saturdays.... Yes, education is important and taking "one for the team" isn't even a relevant comment, really???? There would be no team since all the kids would be at school. I guess no ones kids do anything very expensive or everyone in LV has money to waste..... who's going to reimburse me for these extracurricular activities I financially invested in? Yes, some of them can be quite expensive. If my kids have to be in school on a Saturday, that's where they'll be because education is important. Gee, maybe they'll give me a credit on my taxes for what I spend on those "dumb" activities my kids have been commited to for years and take very seriously! haha I still think Saturdays are ridiculous and the LEAST logical choice. I guess it's fine for those of you who have Saturdays to spare and kids who don't excel at anything outside of school.
