ReplyYes, this is a wonderful achievement. They should be proud. But shame on Patch for incomplete reporting. The school-sponsored robotics team that is supervised by Mr. Mariano is a completely separate thing. This was a team competition that these students embarked on - not the official CHS robotics team.

ReplyThe Shade Tree Commission’s responsibilities include planting and maintaining trees along Borough streets, public rights-of ways, and municipal open spaces. The goal of the Shade Tree Commission is to create and maintain optimum tree cover and species diversity while keeping up a pruning and removal program that will keep our streets and parks safe. They DO NOT approve tree removal permit applications. Let her take care of the town trees and leave everyone else's alone.

ReplyI like trees, but I don't want them to fall on my house or my neighbor's house. If there is a tree on my property that I feel is liable to fall in the next big storm, I should be able to take it down.

ReplyWhat about people who pave or sealcoat their driveway? Or homes under construction? This isn't just about overnight guests. We need to find a way to leave the process as-is.

ReplyWe don't know the circumstances. If a large SUV is waiting in traffic in front of that intersection, it can block your view until you are right on top of the crosswalk. Maybe the pedestrian ran across the crosswalk trying to beat traffic. I've seen plenty of pedestrians boldly walk out into crosswalks when someone is already halfway through a turn. There has to be some mutual accountability. I'm not saying it was the pedestrian's fault. I'm just saying, maybe we shouldn't be so judgmental if we don't have all the facts.

ReplyThe pedestrian was taken to the hospital. The policeman was not able to get her side of the story in order to decide whether or not to issue a citation. This has NOTHING to do with you and your comments on Patch.

Replymaybe before we worry about overnight parking we should clean up on the daytime parking problems. People park on my street and walk to the train every day! No tickets, no towing. Add that to normal daytime traffic, two current and two future construction projects and school traffic and that equals one mess. I don't think a couple of cars on the street overnight are going to cause anyone any problems. Don't we have more important things to worry about?

ReplyI don't know why this is even an issue. Doesn't everyone in the township either own a snowblower or hire someone to clear their snow?

Mark - I totally agree with you. However, Mrs. Drew is no longer the proprietor of Cafe Beethoven. Let's not drag good people into this much who don't belong there.
