Excellant communication from someone on the front lines that can validate the experiences. Thank you for sharing this and best of luck to you and yours ...

MIA Mayor - I find it sad that not only do you not respect/support the community that elected you, you also have no clue what professional courtesy is. What time on tuesday when you return from your vacation would you like me to show up to accept your resignation letter? i've already written it just need your signature ...

Bobby Mac, thanks for the OPINION we all have them and see things from our own vantage point. With that in mind I ask you this when was the first time the mayor actually communicated with the residence? There is more substance in your rant then was included in both official statements posted by our MIA mayor? Hopatcong is in a crisis and the mayor disappears for the weekend?? So you hit the nail on the head 'uniformed' without a doubt you obviously have more information then the rest of the town.. If it was not for the amazing work the HPD has been doing we would still be in the dark, wait we are!!! I gladly accept the mayor resignation for failing to step up to the challenge and do what she was elected to do...

Bed Bugs is a serious allegation, has this been confirmed? They could easily hitch a ride home with a student and impact the entire community!! I would hope they are not trying to cover this up and keep it from everyone we have a right to know..

Patch shame on you , why lead off with numbers from a source that can't count. this has been proven by the out cry from the community and the part time mayor followed suit..JCP&L spent way to long in the magic garden to be a reliable source and to that you reported on their inability to add earlier this week?? confused confused confused. tell you what lets drive around town and count the house in the dark trust me its not hard to find them i'll even spring for the gas i have about 12 containers for the generator laying around... epic fail JCPL

Stephanie, I would hope that someone at the town was misinformed, not alerting the residents impacted in whatever section that is, is negligence and they should be alerted so they can make arrangements, prepare etc... But then again communication in this town is horrible from the "mayors department" and if that was the case schools would not open to after thanksgiving as well base on Dr Evils voice mail - school will open when all the power has been restored.. they dig deeper and deeper holes...

It amazes me, with all the media coverage behind the screwy numbers and lack of attention to the general area why the mayors of Hopatcong/standhope/landing/roxbury/byram don't use this leverage independently or collectively to get better information for dissemination to their residents and just as important to drive results?? it's only the residents of their respective towns that are suffering!! maybe we need a jr mayors program sponsored by Christie so these mayors can shadow the others that bark loud and have gotten results. JCPL has shown that being passive and accepting the gospel they preach is the best way to not get results. The update provided by the Hopatcong Mayor clearly states and shows that nothing has changed, JCPL tells me what they want and I accept it..Based on the history this update should have been substantial to the point of providing verified street level work being done, damage severity, and time to restore, maybe even throw in some logic of why those areas, ETC.. nice try todays update receives two thumbs down... stay tuned for more from the Icebox

Great story but really this late in the game? Hello Accountability should have been your card from the start, i'll just send my tax check in a envelope and forget the check part... How hard is it to look out your window and say hmm damn its dark in town the peasants must not have power yet..

@lauren - great writing but can we get some fact checks on JCP_L numbers and MP's alleged conversation with the pres?

maybe Chrispy Cream will get off his butt and come visit the peasants up the hill. We get it the shore was destroyed and that sucks, i'm not allowed in my shore house to verify the damage and thats another battle, but the fact remains theres other counties in the state that are in trouble as well...giddy up buddy

post cards from hell has frozen over and made its camp in Hopatcong..
