The firebrick you have now is safe, works well and has multiple birders.Mend ham is one of those little towns that has to stop spending and start thinking about the future.Hurricane Sandy relief funds will directly impact each and every one of the property owners of Mendham. The state will be giving no money to any towns for education next year.why?because all that money is being diverted to aid the victims of Sandy. The net impact to us will be a substantial increase in property taxes to cover the shortfall that this creates. And you want a shiny new truck for Christmas.....The equipment that you are currently operating is good enough for the city of Chicago, then it is good enough for our guys.We can revisit replacing the ladder truck when things finally settle down. Brad Badal, our councilman and the owner of Fire and Safety Inc. The same company that will be providing the new fire truck at a hefty premium over the other 2 bidders should have to also answer to the tax payees.Mr Badal put out to bid for the new fire truck to 3 companies, his being one of them.Mr Badal made sure that the unique specifications of the new ladder ktruck were such so that no other company other than Pierce could meet them.Even though the other 2 bidders were lower and the specs could have been modified. This has been going on in our little town of Mendham for far too long. Mr Badal and whoever else has their hand in the cookie jar should be sent home, without his fat commission check.

I am not ranting.I am stating a fact that the piece of equipment in question is in perfect condition. In times when money is tight there is no reason to spend other peoples money.I stated earllier that if the Ladder truck was in disrepair and unable to perform than your point is valid. The days of spending recklessly are over,if we dont need a NEW ladder truck ,than we can save money.Perhaps you could tell me what is wrong with the "old" truck.

I welcome the conversation,be prepared to answer why other fire departments are willing to buy our "old" equipment because it is in excellent condition. The 1 million dollars plus that we are going to spend when our existing equipment is in excellent condition is fiscally irresponsibility. Your position would make sense if the current equipment was in disrepair.

interesting....how much did the new truck cost the taxpayers of Mendham Borough? I understand we are selling the "old" truck to either the NYC fire department or the Chicago fire department. How many times was this truck actually used to fight a fire?

Sick of the Trolls JCP&L a wholly ownwd susidiary of First Energy was stripped of all of their equipment when the aquisition was complete, its most senior supervisors were fired(they actually knew the power grid) and the executives of First Energy lined their pockets with the cost savings of both these actions. Anthony J. Alexander was paid 18.3 million dollars last year. The reason for all the out of state trucks, they have no equipment in New Jersey,it is at their other Utilities. The reason it takes so long to restore power is there is no "smart grid". It was being built at the time of the aquisition and squashed because of the cost. You obviously work for First Energy

“The website wasn’t updated because we don’t have the power or the manpower to update it,” Henry said. “I really think we need to take a look at improving our information flow. Town Hall was closed and I am sure residents were looking for information. Next time we need to have it open as a place to get warm and charge up their phones and get information.”
really, thats your excuse.Long Hill Townships website was updated where Neil Henry is the Town administrator.Check it out.It looks like holding sown 2 jobs could be stretching his talents.

JCP&L is owned by First Energy an Ohio based Public Utilities holding company.the CEO is Anthony J Alexander who took home a salary and bonus of 18.3 million dollars in 2011.Again,this is a Public Utility CEO,you think he is losing any sleep over this.
