I worked as a school social worker with both elementaryand high school students in the public sector for 28 years. There I counseled students with emotional problems including issues of grief and loss. I temporarily assisted the school district as a Supervisor of Special Education. I also worked with emotionally disturbed adolescents in a private school facility. During this time I have consistently maintained a private practice focusing particularly on issues of crisis, grief/bereavement and loss (dealing with children and adolescents). I am trained in Short-Term Therapy and a member of the NJ Institute for Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy. I’m also trained in Structural and Strategic Family Therapy. I hold two master’s degrees- one in education and the other in clinical social work as well as a doctorate.

In my professional experience in school, I served special education students who had both physical and emotional disabilities as well as their families. I have experience teaching micro and macro courses both graduate and undergraduate students on the university level. I am presently an assistant professor of social work at Dominican College in Orangeburg, NY. My areas of study include bereavement and loss and the human animal bond. I’m presently doing research in equine-facilitated psychotherapy.
