ReplyI thought the study WAS for 24...my mistake. Whole Foods couldn't compete with Shoprite on 57 or A&P on 46, but Trader Joe's could. Their prices are reasonable and they have items which CAN NOT be found in a regular store. I used to go there every week when I worked nearby, certain organic items are cheaper than Shoprite...and with GMOs/HFCS in everything these days, many people would choose to shop there. The reason Weis is so empty is because they sell the SAME things as Shoprite, at a higher cost. We do without certain luxuries, but I care deeply about the quality of food I feed my family.

I only mentioned it because this question has come up in the past. Many people want a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. Someone replied that one (can't remember which) came to Long Valley and said there was not enough traffic through Long Valley. I think 57 is an ideal place. I love Trader Joe's, but it's over 40min. away.

ReplyI think there is enough traffic on 57 where the empty store has been (for years) in the Kohl's mall for a Trader Joe's...

I agree Jane. My kids also take lessons at Hackettstown, and we enjoy it there, but it is crowded. I think it is a great way for the town to become more social...and in terms of revenue, I know a lot of camps use the Hackettstown pool and the local camps/swim teams could use the pool here instead. Also love the idea of cleaning/using the swimming beaches...Clinton is nice but would love something closer (anyone know of decent swimming beaches closer? - Not a fan of Budd Lake)

I agree. We are grateful and have thanked the police...they have a car on our property many a morning. But it doesn't seem to make a difference, people still speed...

Agreed. I live on Kings Hwy and see it on almost a daily basis. It has some very sharp curves, with limited to no visibility and people just don't slow down enough. Even by the bridge people go too fast around the curve. I have had SOOO many near misses. Slow down people - you'll get there!

Taking on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act will be a tough battle indeed.

Thanks for the info Jason and Fourscore, yes I get that taxes/school districts are related issues, but the back and forth personal attacks get old and take away from any real discussion...
I moved here in 2009 and the Patch has helped me learn about LV. It seems this discussion has been going on for a long time. And my gut tells me based upon what I've read, that if anything does happen, the area is leaning toward more separation, not merging. The result will be MORE redundant administration, higher taxes, and I fail to see how it helps the kids at all.

Kelly...REALLY?! You can CHOOSE the length of the kindergarten day? I so want to believe this, but it sounds more flexible than what I'd expect from a public school...
If, for example, I receive feedback that my child is having a hard time with the whole day, I can change his pickup time for the rest of the year? That would ease my trepidation considerably (my son is on the young side and I've been debating holding him back a year because since this change to full day was made). I'd appreciate any details (i.e. under what conditions will the school allow this) Thanks
