ReplyMust be a SLOW news day. LOL! The only problem I have with these birds is that they wake me up with their flapping wings which sound like a hammer coming down. I would be interested to know if there was EVER a case in the world in which a turkey vulture swooped down and took a baby out of someones arms. Yeah, Im thinking NO! That comment was made up, right? please tell me this is a joke.

ReplyHow many of you saw parents and scouts alike posting their cookies on Facebook for people to buy. Girl scouts, Lighten up already, will you? You sound like the roman catholic church, holding onto to your antiquated stodgy rules and refusing to look to the future.

ReplyI think unfortunately, THIS EVENT will serve to educate the general public of the dangers of going on the frozen lakes and ponds. Just wish it wouldn't take something like this to do it.

Yes, I know it wouldnt have saved these two from this mishap, I understand Lake Iosco is a PRIVATE lake so therefore would be unaffected by any ordinance. You dont find it ironic though that before this incident there has never been a death in Bloomingdale where someone was killed after falling through the ice. And then, 2 weeks after it gets on the council radar, THIS happens? Crazy man! When my mother was very young, she lost a cousin who fell through the ice in Paterson somewhere. I was educated all of my life about the dangers of going on the ice. Since you are an Ice fisherman, do they provide any education to people seeking a fishing license about the dangers of fishing on the ice?

ReplyI just cant believe how ironic it is that the Mayor and council brought this to the public just a week or so ago and now we have the first death by lake ice ever in Bloomingdale. So sad, prayers to the family and a wake up call to those who would fight to not have this prohibition put in place to protect. THIS is why they are trying to enact this ordinance. Nice job Fire department, we appreciate what you guys do!
