This story is absolutely unbelievable. The only thing that would top this is having 5 police cars surrounding a rabid raccoon. While I don't approve of underage drinking there's a million other ways the police resources could be used. I wish law enforcement was this motivated and aggressive when it came to capturing the daytime thieves that were breaking into homes here. Oh never mind, I remember now...citizens were advised to play cops and call in anything suspicious. And that wasn't enough to describe the driver or vehicle, an article on this very site told us that info wasn't enough because the police suggested we report the CAR PLATE NUMBER too. Please.

@von manning Oh you can't stay where you are with a newborn baby! It's too cold!!!! Call your city hall and find out where you can go, tell them you have a newborn. They have to have someplace set up. It's much too cold for us adults and I know newborns need to be kept even warmer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyChester Township, NJ here. Yeah everyone's problem is their own problem and you can't tell them not to be mad or angry because their home wasn't lost or because there wasn't a fatality. I shouldn't being angry with JCPL even though my home has no power because I'm lucky enough to own a home and not live under a bridge in a cardboard box? Those kinds of conversations can be had with God and I am thankful for what I have but that has nothing to do with my conversation with JCPL. Everyone has a different standard to what is acceptable and not acceptable. The bottom line is this is our reality and like I said days and days ago...it's only getting colder and that's what has me the most worried for all without power. A few sweaters and a jacket aren't going to be enough. The nor'easter is coming for next week.

Well said too Aliph Bay :-) Yes, they should def cancel their ability to do business here in NJ. We're not on Boardwalk Empire, they should have a grid that shows them where power is out. They buy time when they tell customers they have to 'call in' where the lines are down, it's 2012 come on. Yeah, but call them and tell them you want to make a payment and they have your account up and an aerial shot of your home in front of them in 2 seconds.

Well said Hop-at-cong. Everyone's problems are their own :-) Anyone who doesn't mind waiting out the 2 weeks should just call JCP&L and asked to be put towards end of list then so complainers, like me, will get their power sooner. Just because we were warned power could be out over a week doesn't make it acceptable. Hey look, if it were 70 degrees outside I could wait it out longer but with a toddler it's hard. The fact that JCP&L's communication sounds good at first read but is still super vague is what is getting everyone so mad. Let's see if when this is over they share their real list with us. For all I know they could be handling this like a damn deli counter and the loudest town gets help first.

ReplyI'm not sure if JCP&L has a real order of what counties they're attending to first. I have no confidence in how they manage anything. If they do have an order of what counties they are attending to they are not sharing it with customers because it will cause outrage. My biggest concern is the cold for everyone, but I'm not hopeful power will be restored in less than a week. My friend in Howell, NJ (that's SOUTH jersey) also got her power restored yesterday by her PSE&G Electric.

I live in Chester Township and have been out of power since Sunday night. No fireplace and no generator :-( IT WAS GETTING SUPER COLD IN THE HOUSE. Well, turns out my parents in Woodbridge got their power back up yesterday thanks to their PSE&G electric service. So my family and I are there now. I do want to share with the group here that my husband and I drove through Mendham, Morristown, East Hanover, and Randolph this morning. We did happen to see a police car parked on a street next to Parks Farm on Rte 24...I can't imagine who would be speeding today with all the trees that have fallen. Hardly any of the towns have power and we found no gas stations with gas, most weren't even open. Randolph and Chester clearly look like they got his the worst with fallen trees and power lines. So many road closures. We saw only ONE service truck and it was in Peapack...the truck was from Ohio. I did see before though that DELTA gas station in Chester on Rte 24 had gas!!!!! Long line but they were selling gas!!!!

Poor kids. They left a bad situation to live with these sick and sadistic people. I treat shopping carts in a parking lot better. As a much less important point, they are also THIEVES because they received monies to take care of these children and deprived them of water and medical attention. Stealing from the government should be viewed the same as tax evasion.
