The question for the governor is: if there was a procedure whereby parents could engage in "obesity conversion" and it was a process scientists and the medical community had deemed to be both useless and offensive, would he support it? Are there any limits to how parents raise children? What if I believe my child would benefit from more sleep in the morning and I want to try a new method called "homeroom conversion?" Is it ok if my child misses the first hour of school every day? How about if I wish to raise my child without the benefit of bathing? And if I believe it's best for my child to attend school barefoot...is that ok? This guy is so afraid to touch this one because he knows no matter how he comes down on it, it may negatively impact the only thing that consumes him more than ice cream cones - his presidential aspirations. Pathetic.

share services? re-distribute sick days (even though these folks worked for years under the sick day rules of their employers and had no say whatsoever in the policy), rationing gas, being against Obamacare before he was for it, and now sleeping in? Sounds like a die-hard socialist to me. Has anyone seen his birth certificate?

Christie calls Obamacare a "government takeover of health care" back in 2011, but today he says he'll take the Obamacare provision expanding Medicaid. Christie wails incessantly about government staying out of our lives, yet when he utterly fails to prepare for Hurricane Sandy, he rations gasoline. He's promising tax cuts he can't deliver while presiding over rising unemployment and crime and yet his popularity continues to rise while he uses storm victims as props for his 2016 presidential campaign. Only in New Jersey!

The Governor doesn't give a damn? I'm shocked...shocked! Good lord, where have you been? He didn't give a damn two years ago when he was in Disney World for the first Halloween storm. Then...this year he spent a week on TV telling the rest of us to prepare for 7-10 days without power, yet failed to prepare gas stations with the necessary generators. This led to the rationing of gasoline. Nor did he bother to ask the big oil companies that desecrate our state for some help with gasoline. Nor did he ensure FEMA was stage in NJ prior to the storm as opposed to days later. The only things the Governor gives a damn about is running for president. So he brazenly went to the shore and hugged a few of the victims in front of the cameras so those moments can be used in his 2016 campaign ads. Unemployment is up. Crime is up. But the Governor is eating doughnuts on late night TV and telling anyone who dares to disagree with him to shut up. He doesn't give a damn about climate change because he doesn't give a damn about New Jersey. One look at this man tells you all you need to know: the only thing he will ever give a damn about his Christ Christie.

I have sometimes used this space to criticize the Township officals, but in this case, all I can say is BRAVO! Regardless of the amound saved, to see those who serve us in a municipal capacity working this hard to save us all a few bucks is as rare as it is commendable. Chatham Township is not without it's issues, but it remains a safe, clean, wonderful place to live and big thanks are in order for all those at the Municipal Building who take their jobs seriously and have the citizens' best interests at heart.

Anyone whining about alimony or attorneys or courts or the law has nobody but themselves to blame. Let me guess: in the bliss of getting engaged and married, you never bothered to check the rule book and now that you find yourself, as I did, among the 50% of those whose marriages went down the drain, you're shocked....shocked to find out divorce settlements are not just inequitable, but downright wrong. Shucks...not sure what to tell you, except to stay single. Other than the tens of thousands of dollars you wasted on a 5 hour party at the beginning, and the tens of thousands of dollars you are now wasting on attorneys at the end, what did you get? Nothing, but a lousy piece of paper that means absolutely nothing. Zip. Nada. Other than filing jointly and shared medical benefits, marriage is a scam, pure and simple. It's a church-imposed institution (yep...the church makes gobs of money too on marriage) that has no purpose other than to trick you into spending stacks of cash on everyone but yourself. Ask yourself this question: In what other compartment of your life is variety discouraged? The entire enterprise is set up to make money for churches, towns, lawyers, shrinks and websites. But still - ignorance of the law is not only no excuse...it's a pathetic excuse.

"gasoline was not rationed?" Uh...maybe you slept through the storm?
    http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/11/sandy_gas_ration_12_counties.html
FEMA responds to the request of the Governor's office. They showed up 4 days late because Christied waited to request FEMA assistance. He also waited until several days AFTER the storm to ask for generators to help gas stations. This was after spending a week on TV telling the rest of us to "prepare for 7-10 days without power." Did the Governor just forget that gas stations need power? Too busy planning appearances on TV or staging photo ops with the victims along the shore? One year to the day after he missed the Halloween storm while vacationing in Disney World, he did absolutely nothing to prepare for Sandy. Nothing. As for the rest of your points - well said. I don't know about you, but I haven't received my tax rebate or anything resembling a reduction in property taxes. Unemployment is up. Crime is up. And Christie is eating doughnuts on Letterman.
He's living on an urban myth when in fact the emperor has no clothes.

Too bad Letterman didn't bother to ask why we had no gasoline or generators or FEMA staged before Sandy. Or why he didn't ask Christie, the dire-hard hater of government intrusion into our lives, why he would ration gasoline like a socialist. Or maybe just ask the Governor what he ACTUALLY DID to help anyone before, during or after the storm. Oh wait...that's right...he went to the shore to use storm victims as props for his 2016 campaign commericals. Raiding pension funds? Crooked deals with halfway houses? Not holding power companies "accountable?" Calling Obama gutless before kissing his ring and begging for generators 4 days AFTER the storm? He's a funny guy, alright. Wonder if the people along the shore who are STILL waiting for some help think he's funny.

Grandma...what would you say about all those folks who come to Chatham from other towns and dare to use our roads, traffic lights, sidewalks and athletic fields - all paid for solely by Township taxpayers? Have you ever used another town's facilities for any reason without paying for it? Where were you when they were tearing down a playground in order to profit from a cell phone tower?

In a town with 13,000 residents, raising $100K would require each resident to part with under $10 each. There are other ways to keep the park open. A combination of private and town funding, having the park repairs underwritten by advertisers and local sponsors and on and on. It is a great facility and it's used often by a wide variety of kids - most of whom do not play traditional sports like basketball. To close the skate park over a matter of so little money (in the big picture) is shortsighted at best. Wait...maybe if we can get a cell phone tower on the property...nevermind.
