ReplySo its noon on Thursday the 8th. Early today there was a letter to residents from the mayor that basically threw JCPL under the bus completely and offered no insight to the restoration process other than what JCPL puts up on its website. Now the letter is no longer there and the noon update from the town essentially says "If you are out of power, call JCPL." and then it gives the contact number.
So I think the town has given up and we are on our own. Not that we weren't before, its just that we didn't realize it.

This is exactly the critical type of information that the township committee should be collecting and distributing to residents.. A further two week delay for a given neighborhood is information that MUST be diseminated. It completely changes how families live and work and it is completely unfair that this information is getting around without verification so that people can act.

ReplyI am in 100% agreement. I've emailed the committee as well and did not receive a reply. Bernards Township has the single largest number of outtages in JCPL's northern and western service area, which is most of the state north of the Turnpike. This statistic which, unlike a lot of other statistics they throw around, is actually real and true, is justification to challenge the allocation of resources to power restoration.
For others, the committee email address is townshipcommittee@bernards.org. The mayor's email is mpavlini@bernards.org.

ReplyFor those in Bernards Township, the email for the township executive committee is
townshipcommittee@bernards.org. The email for the mayor is
mpavlini@bernards.orgLet them know that having the highest number of outtages in all of JCPL's northern and western service area is justification for a large number of resources in our town. There is no activity.

Yep, I got the same message today. The posting of the 125 streets that they are supposedly working on yesterday was complete BS.

Completely agree. Again, Bernards Township has the largest number of outtages in all of the JCPL's northern and western territory. Only shore towns have higher outtages. There is little restoration work being done in town and JCPL is blowing all of their self-declared restoration targets. Who is speaking for us with JCPL? We are getting manipulated over and over.

Yeah, okay, I saw it and its a massive list of 125 or so streets. They arent working on those now, frankly; they couldn't. Its just a bunch of street names they (JCPL) threw out there to get people to quit complaining. Sorry to be cynical but the list doesn't jive with the level of activity on the streets of the town.

Yep. The town is being manipulated by JCPL just as much as we are. That the town has the fifth largest number of outtages in the state suggests that we might need more resources.

So its noon on Thursday the 8th. Early today there was a letter to residents from the mayor on the township web-site that basically threw JCPL under the bus completely and offered no insight to the restoration process other than what JCPL puts up on its website. Now the mayor's letter is no longer there and the noon update from the town deletes all previous content and essentially says "If you are out of power, call JCPL." and then it gives the contact number.
So I think the town has given up and we are on our own. Not that we weren't before, its just that we didn't realize it.
