Fireworks Burst Over Bloomingdale Field

Borough held annual fireworks display at the Walter T. Bergen School.

The Borough of Bloomingdale held its annual Fourth of July fireworks display Friday night at the Walter T. Bergen School.

Back for the second year since a hiatus, the fireworks grand finale was captured on video and posted on the borough Facebook page.

Hundreds of spectators poured into the field behind Walter T. Bergen School for the colorful show.

Only miles away, the annual fireworks show normally held in Jungle Habitat in West Milford was cancelled this year, so car loads of that town's residents poured into the Bloomingdale event as well.

Spectators young and old enjoyed the company of entertaining dance music, a carnival ride, and a block of vendors selling appetizing carnival-type food.

"Teeing off" at around 9:15 p.m., the fireworks lasted for about 25 minutes and the finale was enough to impress everyone who sat beneath the illuminated sky.

Children ran around playfully with painted faces and armfuls of glow sticks, and parents tried their hardest to manage the muggy weather. Though the mosquitoes were out in droves, attendees were able to have a fun evening.

"The fireworks were perfect," said West Milford resident and attendee, Rachel Engdahl. "The show lasted just long enough and the small-town hospitality was great."
